Welcome in
A door shut all the way tells the road something.Says: what’s mine is mine, keep walking.Open a crack says: someone’s home, and they’re not scared of you.
Six short novels, a prequel and an omnibus. Each book stands alone and can be read first. Read in order, they do something else: six strangers at the edges of one afternoon slowly become a family around one table. They are short on purpose — three to four hours each — and meant to be read the way the story was first told: in an evening, out loud if you like, and passed on.

Where the Bible ends and the story begins
This series stands next to Scripture, so it shows its working. Every person, place and moment carries one of three marks, and you can turn them on anywhere on this site.
- In ScriptureThis person, place or event is in the Bible. The reference is given so you can read it yourself.
- Named by traditionThe Bible leaves this unnamed or unstated. Later Christian tradition supplied it.
- Original to the seriesInvented to fill a silence Scripture leaves open.
Born Judah, and blessed over the cradle by a father he would never remember. He grew up under a carved pomegranate with his mother’s hope resting on him, and found it too heavy to carry.
In the last hour of a wasted life, on a cross, with nothing in his hands and no time left to do anything about it, he turned his head toward the middle cross and asked to be remembered.
The series
Six short novels, a prequel, and an omnibus. Read them in any order; each stands alone. Read them in order and watch six strangers become a family.
The ground they walked
Galilee in the green north — the lake, the fishing towns, the road where a carpenter built a house a little way out of the village so that the door would face the road. Jerusalem in the crowded south — the Temple, the Pavement, the hill, a rich man’s unused tomb.
Open the map. Turn on any witness and watch their road to Jerusalem. Turn on all six and watch them converge.
Start where they started
The Open Door
Before any of it: a girl who learned a blessing in the dark, a carpenter who gave back the change, and a door left open onto the road. Nobody wrote it down at the time. There was nothing yet to write.
Watch three small things as you go — a name, a blessing, and a door. They are new here, and quiet, and theirs.
Early readers
We’re looking for early readers who’ll take the series seriously and say honestly what they think. Free copies, no obligation beyond a review.
